Jerk It return to vinyl for their second release by Swedish-based artist Oblique. Oblique is the co-owner of Stockholm-based label Bars of Beats and has released tracks with long-time Jerk It collaborator, Bobo. The 4 track EP is an exploration into breaks and Techno. The perfect tool for a late night / early morning set at White Hotel (take us back).

‘As Another Entity’ opens the EP with spaced-out synths before dropping into a mean break. Dissonant sounds give the track an otherworldly feel as snatches of vocals keep dancers on their toes. A perfect track for taking your set into 4am territory, it’s not for the faint-hearted but for the right crowd will definitely set hearts racing and bodies moving.
‘Futility Flight’ tweaks the formula laid down in ‘As Another’ with a more garage-esque track. The minimal breaks are still there but the whole composition feels a bit more upbeat. The drums take center stage as shrill synths filter in and out the track keeping listeners on their toes.
‘Mania’ lives up to its name with a barrage of beeps and boops that’ll make you believe you’re on a spaceship to dance planet. The arpeggiated sounds intermittently give way to a pulsing note that sounds like you should be strapping in for a crash landing.
The track fluctuates between tense and bouncy and will send curveball after curveball at dancers and listeners alike.
‘Faulty’ closes out the EP with a broodingly dark, drum-heavy affair. No messing about here tops off, head down, fist pumps.
