TESS004 provides a variety of upbeat dance tracks, with each one bringing to the EP their own individual groove whilst also maintaining a warm, housey vibe. Run by Deelux Audio and DJ Max van Dijk, Tessellate champions the best of house and techno. This EP reflects Tessellate’s namesake, the beautiful overlaying of sounds and samples combine to create great melodic harmonies.

Ukrainian Alex Pervukhin’s new EP, ‘Like It’s 92’, provides upbeat, minimalistic grooves that really get your head moving.

A Lviv-based DJ and producer, Alex Pervukhin has previously released tracks on his own label, Laconica, as well as Recordeep, and RAWAX.

His analog style of production creates layered, built-up tracks with a distinct euphoric sound, and he’s seen support from artists such as rising groove-master Priku, and Paris-based DJ Brawther.

On side A, the EP’s opening track, “10AM Groove” begins with a pumping bass and a mellow synth. The track builds up as it continues, incorporating samples of tweeting birds over a magical beat which transports you into another dimension from the dancefloor.

“909b” is next on the EP, and moves you in a completely different direction. This fist-pumping track speeds up the BPM and accelerates the energy levels. It opens with lengthened ‘pew pew’ sounds over sharp, energetic percussion which creates a spaced-out atmosphere. The analog synth gives the track a real tech-house feel which is sure to keep ravers dancing long into the night.

Moving onto side B, the title track “Like It’s 92” slows the pace down again, yet keeps the vibe upbeat and magical. The shimmering sounds over the rolling drum loop and percussion give the track a sparkly feel, and the sampled laughing reinforces the feel-good vibe of Alex’s tracks.

The EP finishes with a heavier remix of “Like It’s 92” by Cabinet Records’ DJ Honesty, which gives the track a nice little shake-up by amping up the bass and the hi-hats. This remix still foregrounds the ephemeral, twinkly sounds of the original track, but finishes the EP on a more upbeat boogie.

A definite recommendation, this magical EP tackles minimalistic dance from all angles.
